With EDM quickly taking over the music scene it should come as no surprise that one of NYC’s favorite concert hot spots would host some of EDM’s rising stars. On January 27th 2017, DATSIK brought his Ninja Nation tour to the Playstation Theater and it brought out the head-banger army.
First up to the stage was an up and comer from the genre, Virtual Riot. When he started his set there was nothing virtual about him or his performance, the place went crazy. You can tell watching this guy that he really loves doing this. His passion came out with his unbelievable energy that fueled such an intense crowd.
Next up was Crizzly; now I don’t know much about this artist but they were genuinely fun. They were incredibly interactive with the crowd, jumping into the crowd, dancing in middle of the floor and letting everyone feel like they were truly apart of the show.
The special guest for the night was Doctor P. Another artist I wasn’t fully aware of but he was a pleasant surprise. He brought a unique vibe to a genre that is so easy to fall into the shadows of your counterparts. Whether the crowd was familiar with Doctor P or not, you couldn’t tell. Which, quite honestly, makes you a successor as an opening artist.
Finally, the reason we were all here, DATSIK, and his relive of his new Shogun stage in support of his latest EP, Sansei. The stage was set up in that of a Japanese style house. Playing everything from dub-step to Lean on Me and everything in between. If you ever have a chance to catch this tour in a city near you or even DATSIK live, do it. The EDM world is one of the fastest growing in the music industry. With so many similar acts it’s refreshing to enjoy those who make it a point to have their own unique style that can’t be missed. Loose your mind and soak in the light show; it will be an experience you never forget.
